INTRODUCING CONTEMPORARY ART FROM THE VISEGRAD GROUP

Each year, at Art Market Budapest’s initiative, as an accompanying event of the fair, organized to showcase a selected outstanding source of artistic treasures, a series of cultural programs and a complex art festival takes place in Budapest.
As Central and Eastern Europe’s leading international art fair and the region’s most significant platform for contemporary art, Art Market Budapest takes it upon itself to highlight artistic content of outstanding quality from post-communist countries, and make it accessible to the art industry as well as to a broad audience.
For this reason, in October 2018, the VISEGRAD CONTEMPORARY art festival places in the focus of attention the artistic wealth of Central Europe, more specifically the countries of the Visegrad Group including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

Dedicated to the arts of the V4 countries, the wide selection of art exhibited on-site at Art Market Budapest 2018 is extended to several further art venues and events in Budapest, to give you a taste of the extraordinary richness and depth of one of Europe’s most exciting art scenes.Detailed in the following pages and various other sections (exhibitors, professional programs) of our catalogue are highlights of the VISEGRAD CONTEMPORARY festival including exhibitions, public sculpture program, artist presentations, panel discussions and more.
